Types of Records

There are certain records that the South Carolina Department of Archives and History (SCDAH) classified as Permanent and they have to be preserved at all cost: e.g.

  • Board of Trustees records
  • President’s office and All top policy-making records.

Then there are those records that can be destroyed after they have met their minimum retention period or at least until no longer needed for reference by the department, e.g.

  • Student records
  • Personnel records
  • Financial records
